5 Tips to Kickstart Your Career on Freelancing Websites
Online freelancing paid me a net income of $4,659.09 in 22 months.
It wasn’t much, right?! Then, why do I have this “I was successful” feeling?
Facts
For starters, this was just a side hustle. I was a university student in the last 2 years of my Master’s degree and lived with my parents.
So, the money I made was entirely for my own things and purposes. And, let me tell you, it felt really damn good to have a taste of independence! Thanks, dad. Thanks, mom.
Moreover, although I’ve said 22 months, I’ve made $2,709.58 (net income) in my first 6 months alone. And business was booming. It was becoming easier and easier to get new customers and I already had a few repeated hires.
In my 8th month freelancing, I reached my highest paying rate — $108 per hour — but my average was still around $30/h.
It wasn’t all leisure though!… Being successful in an online business where the whole world is your competition and no one knows you requires a lot of energy, time, and failed attempts.
That’s what made me stop freelancing. I had a Master’s degree to finish and, in the last semester before my thesis, I had 8 or 9 subjects to pass. I had to shut down the noise and focus.
